5 DIY Beauty Actions to Try This Summer

DIY Beauty

Our hearts and souls love the sun, but that doesn’t mean our skin loves it. Endless sun exposure can wreak havoc on our skin, but with the right care, we can embrace life with a wrinkle-free glow.

Beauty products can be expensive; let’s be honest, it’s because of all the chemicals different companies use! If you start taking care of yourself, you’ll not only save money, but you’ll also protect your body from harmful toxins.

Read on to discover our five favourite at-home beauty treatments that nourish your skin and save you money

1. Coconut Oil Scrub

Coconut Oil Scrub

You’re probably a big fan of coconut oil because it softens your skin and hair. However, we encourage you to expand your options and create a delicious coconut oil scrub that your skin and senses will love.

Try this lavender and coconut oil sugar scrub for a quick exfoliation.

Ingredients:

– 1 cup coconut oil

– 2 cups unrefined sugar

– 20 drops lavender oil

Instructions:

  • If the coconut oil has not yet melted, warm it in the microwave for 40 seconds or until it is completely melted.
  • Pour the molten coconut oil into a bowl and slowly stir the sugar.
  • Add 20 drops of lavender oil.
  • Pour into an airtight ampule and voila!

Tip: Experiment with different vital oils to find your favourite scent.

2. Honey Face Wash

Did you see that honey has natural antibacterial properties? That’s right, honey is a natural way to fight unwanted acne!

Try this homemade face wash to experience all the benefits of honey.

Ingredients:

– Half a cup of raw organic honey.

– Half a cup of coconut milk.

– 2 tablespoons of liquid castile soap.

Instructions:

Mix all fixings and pour into an empty honey bottle. Massage a small amount onto your face and neck (avoid your eyes!).

Tip: Add a coconut scrub twice weekly for silky, smooth skin.

3. Aloe Vera as a Moisturiser

Aloe Vera as a Moisturiser

When it comes to a natural moisturiser, organic cold-pressed aloe vera gel is the way to go. This top beauty product will not only moisturise your skin, but will also help soothe sunburn and acne.

You must buy this magical moisturiser if you don’t live near an aloe vera plant. It’s very affordable and can be ordered directly from Amazon.

Tip: Choose organic aloe vera gel to prevent your skin from absorbing harmful toxins.

4. Almond-Shaped Eyes

Almond-Shaped Eyes

Did you know that the skin around your eyes is the most delicate part of your face, as it has no oil glands? It’s no wonder our eyes can show the first signs of ageing. If you spend most of your time on the beach and in the sun, you can protect your eyes with good sunglasses and make your own homemade eye mask to combat unwanted dryness.

Try this nourishing mask with avocado and almond oil to remove crow’s feet.

Ingredients

— One teaspoon of avocado

— 5 drops of almond oil

How to use:

Mix until smooth, gently apply to the eye area, leave for 5 minutes and rinse.

Tip: Apply this combination every night before bed to wake up fresh as the ocean.

5. It’s all in the hands

It’s all in the hands

Along with the skin around our eyes, our hands can also show the first signs of ageing. We often neglect hand care, but keeping them moisturised and soft is easy.

Whenever you’re at the beach, use the sand as a usual exfoliant to remove dead skin cells from the back and flanks of your hands. Then, when you get home, make this hand lotion that will really nourish you.

Ingredients:

– beeswax teaspoons 2

– teaspoons cocoa butter 2

– shea butter teaspoons 2

–  teaspoon almond oil 1

– drops of essential oil 15

Directions:

Mix the beeswax, cocoa fat, and shea butter before melting in the microwave for at least 1 minute, rousing every 30 seconds. Add your favourite essential oils (like vanilla!) Then refrigerate the mixture.

Tip: Leave the lotion on your hands overnight, wear gloves, and wake up with incredibly soft hands!

As with all ingredients, ensure you are not allergic to anything before using. We also recommend everyone always use SPF—better safe than sorry. If you try these five summer DIYs, please let us know how you liked them and leave a comment below! Thanks, creators!
